A good blog?
I have recently been thinking about what really makes a good blog. After several conversations with friends I truly believe a good blog is a free expresion of the soul that invites others to view it and react. Equally a good blogger reaches out to others to share viewpoints, common experiences, give kudos, etc. I view blogging ulimately as a way to search for the common thread of humanity between all of us and join us (between countries, cultures, social standings) in a way that delves deeper into our souls than any other encounter we may have in our everyday lives. The blogs I read do this for me. They sing to me and offer me this common thread that I reach for and find so beautiful. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more-- I started my blog a little over a month ago-- and I love writing my viewpoints with a quote or poem and images and I love getting comments and I have found the most fabulous artists all around the world, including yours.

I blog very selfishly to put all my thoughts down and see them reflected back to me. What a wonderful thing it is to publish a post and get comments on it, but also to read other peoples' posts and comment on them. It's a great big blogging world full of intimacy and friendship.

A good bog is wet and has an accumulation of decaying acid vegetation. Few things survive there, but those that do have a darwanistic beauty.
To me a good blog encourages thought and provides inspiration...through kinship we encopurage and seek splendor.

It seems Donna (Layers) is always one or two steps ahead of me.
I have only been blogging for three or four months and after having now two blogs, I am still refining the sidebar and how the information flows, apart of what kind of information I make available.
Of course content is just as important and thought I have not posted in two weeks due to family obligations, I will continue shortly.
Though I agree with all the points you make, there is one that is just as important and that is good design and especially readability.
Before closing I wish to say that I love the title of your blog and a number of the art contained within.

Fantastic blog! And, yes, I heartily agree with everyone's sentiments here. It is as the Green Stone Woman says: "I blog very selfishly to put all my thoughts down and see them reflected back to me..." Never a truer word spoken! :)

Easily I agree but I think the post should prepare more info then it has.
Let me be clear. My blog is about little things I do and things that I think. This is by no means a college essay, blogs, in my humble opinion are to be liberal expressions. It is just a free flow of who I am. Thanks for the comment.
